What is the course content?
This course covers the very basic parts of the six articles of faith; the five pillars of Islam as well as the basic lifestyle of a Muslim. This is a foundation course intended as a practical guide to living life as a Muslim without cultural influences. The modules will give the basic information and general rules and there will be an opportunity to ask questions about any issue at the end of the course.
The course will cover:
- What is Islam?
- The purpose of life
- Knowing Allah
- Books revealed by Allah
- Messengers and Prophets
- Creation
- Hereafter
- The Five Pillars of Islam:
- The Shahaadah
- Prayer (and purification)
- Zakat, Fasting and Hajj
- Living Islam:
- Foods, clothing and common phrases
- Gender relations, love, marriage and family
- Financial issues
- Political and societal responsibility
- Understanding Islamic Law & different opinions and sects
- General guidelines for living as a Muslim
Who the course is aimed at?
This course is tailored to people who have just embraced Islam or are thinking about embracing Islam. Terminology would be explained to make it easier to understand. No previous knowledge is required.
When is the course and how long is it?
This course is a one-day session lasting between 5-8 hours depending on venue.
The Islamic Belief

What is the course content?
This course covers the essential areas of the Islamic Belief. Starting from a rational foundation, and discussing modern theories such as the Big Bang and the Theory of Evolution, the course establishes that Islam does not contradict reason and intellect, and is in fact a source of scientific knowledge. It further explains the details of the Islamic belief, including the six articles of faith.
We have experienced tutors that are happy to help to ensure that suitable amount of information is given to help establish a solid foundation.
The course will cover:
- The meaning and purpose of life
- Existence of a Creator
- Knowing Allah
- Books revealed by Allah
- The Quran
- Messengers and Prophets
- Angels
- Jinn
- Hereafter
- The Day of Judgement (and some signs)
- Accountability
- Paradise & Hellfire
- Qadr: Destiny & Fate
- Islam and Kufr
Who the course is aimed at?
This course is tailored to people who have just embraced Islam or are thinking about embracing Islam. Terminology would be explained to make it easier to understand. No previous knowledge is required.
What are the times of the classes?
The class would typically be held on a Sunday between 10:00am - 6.00pm. Once you have registered, you will be sent fully details of the particular course. The location would be at our venue in Kingsbury (NW London), but may be moved to a venue in Central London if circumstances allow.
When is the course and how long is it?
This course is a one-day session.
Basic Worship

What is the course content?
Concentrating on the basic five pillars of Islam, this course covers basic acts of worship in Islam, starting from purification, to the rules of salah (prayer), sawm (fasting), zakat (obligatory charity)and Hajj (the pilgrimage in Islam)..
The course will cover:
- An Introduction to Ritual Worship
- Purity: Tahara
- Wudu
- Ghusl
- Other issues related to purity
- Prayer: Salat
- Congregational prayer
- Other prayers, forgetfulness
- Fasting
- Zakat
- Hajj & Umrah
Who the course is aimed at?
This course is tailored to people who have just embraced Islam. Terminology would be explained to make it easier to understand. No previous knowledge is required, although it is recommeded that the student undertakes the course on 'How to perform Salah (prayers)' as this will enhance the learning experience.
What are the times of the classes?
The class would typically be held on a Sunday between 10:00am - 6.00pm. Once you have registered, you will be sent fully details of the particular course. The location would be at our venue in Kingsbury (NW London) or at a venue in Central London.
When is the course and how long is it?
This course is a one-day session.
What else do I need?
If you can fulfill the criteria above, the only other thing that we request is commitment and punctuality.
Qur'an Reading Course for New Muslims
The Qur'an is the unchanged Word of Allah, revealed in the Arabic language. It cannot be recited an any other language and so learning and recitation in Arabic is essential. This course starts from the very basics and develops the student so they can recite the words of the Noble Qur'an.
This course will be delivered over a period of eights sessions (or four double sessions for intensive courses).
What is the course content?
The course will cover:
- The Arabic Alphabet and its pronunciation
- Character recognition
- Vowelling
- Basic Rules of Tajweed
Who the course is aimed at?
This course is tailored to people who have just embraced Islam. No previous knowledge is required.
When is the course and how long is it?
This course typically spans across eight one hour sessions (or four double sessions for intensive courses), with reading material and practice between each session.
Can I join a course that has already started?
Once a course has started, it is not possible for students to join. It is advisable to register your interest, so that when the next course becomes available, you should recieve a notification.
How much does it cost?
The course is being offered for free for the full duration, but upon condition that attendance is required for ALL of the sessions. It is also be neccesary to buy course books costing £5.
What else do I need?
If you can fulfill the criteria above, the only other thing that we request is commitment to homework and punctuality.
How to perform Salah Course for New Muslims
A Muslim is obliged to offer compulsory prayers five times a day. This course assists the person who has no previous knowledge of prayer to learn the word, rules and actions of prayer.
This course will be delivered over a period of eights sessions (or four double sessions for intensive courses).
What is the course content?
The course will cover:
- The preconditions of prayer, including hygeine and purity
- The timings and units of prayers
- Actions during individual and congregation prayers
- Recitation during the prayer
- Prayers at special times
- Issues which may nullify the prayer and common errors

This course is tailored to people who have just embraced Islam. No previous knowledge is required.
When is the course and how long is it?
This course typically spans across eight one hour sessions (or four double sessions for intensive courses), with reading material and practice between each session.
Can I join a course that has already started?

Living life as a Muslim
What is the course content?
This course covers a basic introduction to the Islamic characteristics that every muslim should aspire to. It also addresses common manners and basic rulings on the Islamic way of life. We have experienced tutors that are happy to help to ensure that suitable amount of information is given to help establish a solid foundation.
The course will cover:
- Personal Worship
- Islamic characteristics
- Non-Islamic characteristics
- Manners realting to: Sleeping, Hygeine, Eating, Dressing, Talking, Greeting and others
- Societal Worship
- Social relations
- Relations between the sexes, marriage
- Family & Society
- Economic issues: Buying, Selling, Trade, Interest
- Ruling in Islam, Judiciary, Crime & Punishment, Politics
- Jihad: In the correct context
- Environment and animal rights

This course is designed to introduce the processes by which laws can be derived and the basis for doing so. Terminology would be explained to make it easier to understand. No previous knowledge is required.
What are the times of the classes?

Introduction to Islamic Jurisprudence
What is the course content?
This course covers a basic introduction to the field of Islamic jurisprudence known as usool ul fiqh. We have experienced tutors that are happy to help to ensure that suitable amount of information is given to help establish a solid foundation.
The course will cover:
- Introduction to Shari'ah
- Ijtihad & Taqleed
- Differences of opinion
- The Qur'an: Compliation, preservation, revelation and explanation
- The Sunnah: Hadeeth classifications
- Ijma (Consesus) & its types
- Qiyas (Analogy)
- Other sources of Islamic Law
- Juristic principles
- Interpretations: Linguistic, General & Specific, Unrestricted and Qualified
- Schools of Thought: Maliki, Hanafi, Shafi'i and Hambali
- Sects and groups

Introduction to Islamic History 
What is the course content?
History is very useful for bringing past events into perspective and understanding situations at that time.
The course will cover:
- The life of the prophet (saw) in Makkah
- The life of the prophet (saw) in Madina
- The family of the prophet (saw)
- The righly guided Caliphs
- The Ummayads
- The Abbasids
- The Golden Age
- The Crusades
- The Tartar invasion
- The Ottomans
- Conquest of Constantinople
- The Arab revolt
Who the course is aimed at?
This course is designed to introduce important events in Islamic history. Terminology would be explained to make it easier to understand. No previous knowledge is required. This is a basic introductory course and is not intended for those who already have a grasp of Islamic history.
What are the times of the classes?
The session would be held on a Sunday between 10:30am - 5.00pm.

From time to time we may also organise other events and activities that are deemed necessary inshallah. We are open to suggestions and comments.

These courses are offered to New Muslims to assist them in the journey in Islam.
For those looking to embrace Islam, or those who are born into the Islamic faith, we request that you contact us, so that we may be able to determine whether these courses are suitable for your needs.
Although our courses carry an administrative cost, this can be waived for those in particular need. If you would like to take the course for free, please contact us and we will discuss the opions with you.
Please remember that our team consists entirely of volunteers and we are a non profit organisation. The course costs are requested to fund our activities.
